Penningtons Manches Cooper’s Oxford office supports 2022 Twin Town Challenge

Posted: 19/04/2022

Leading law firm Penningtons Manches Cooper is proud to be supporting the Twin Town Challenge charity car rally event, which is making a return this year after a hiatus due to pandemic restrictions.

Established in 2014, the Twin Town Challenge involves teams spending just £500 on an old vehicle to customise and take on a road trip. The route starts at Blenheim Palace and ends in Le Touquet, northern France, the twin town of Witney, Oxfordshire.

Teams also take on various challenges en route, all in aid of SpecialEffect, an Oxfordshire based charity transforming the lives of people with physical disabilities through innovative use of technology and inclusive gaming.

The team from Penningtons Manches Cooper’s Oxford office taking part in this year’s challenge is made up of family partner Ruth James and senior associate Eleanor Moodey, corporate tax partner Kathy Hills, commercial dispute resolution senior associate Charlie Shillito and private client case manager Mark Baker.

They have worked with local primary school St Ebbe’s, where pupils entered a competition to design graphics representing the shared values of the school and the firm for the car. The winning designs were created by Jo of Darling Class, Lulu of Congo Class, Madia of Seine Class, Laurence of Thames Class, Leila of Limpopo Class, Manon of Amazon Class, and Freya, Amelie and Emily of Haro Class.

Ruth James comments: “Our team is delighted to be taking part in the Twin Town Challenge this year. It’s a fantastic event with many local organisations coming together to support a worthy cause. We hope to make a difference by contributing to the fundraising total and to have some fun along the way!”

The 2022 Twin Town Challenge will be taking place from Friday 29 April to Monday 2 May. To date, the event has raised over £850,000 for SpecialEffect and organisers hope that sponsorship from this final challenge will take the total over £1 million.
